character of the Continental Bulldog
The Continental Bulldog, also known as Conti, is a true family dog.
They love to cuddle, enjoy sitting with you on the couch, but can also be left alone for a while.
They are social dogs, get along well with other dogs and other members of the household, and often seek out other dogs to play with in the park. They play rough, really enjoying bumping into other dogs with their whole body. Not all dogs like this, and some owners find it very alarming. Dog training can help.
Once they are fully grown, they are nice and calm in the house. They greet visitors enthusiastically, but then go back to doing their own thing. Most Contis get along well with children and will be a little gentler when greeting them, etc.
Movement
They are very active (much more active than an English Bulldog), because they are healthy. They normally have no breathing problems and love going for walks or bike rides. They don’t need a long hour-long walk every day, but every now and then it certainly makes them happy.
Obedience
They are very good listeners, so walking off the leash is often not a problem. Just make sure you train them to come when called. They are great at carrying out all kinds of commands, but if you ask them to do the same thing four times in a row, they will think: ‘You saw that I can do it, didn’t you? I’m not doing it again.’
They can also be stubborn, but then again, you are bringing a Bulldog into your home. A friend for life, once a Bull, always a Bull.
Conclusion: The Conti is a super sweet, stable, healthy Bulldog.
